Upon arrival in Yangon (Rangoon) you will be met and transferred to your hotel.

Yangon

Explore fascinating Yangon taking in the city’s best examples of British colonial architecture and the Indian and Chinese Quarters. Later visit the reclining Buddha at Kyaukhtatgyi Pagoda and see the dazzling Shwedagon Pagoda at sunset.

Yangon-Bagan

Fly to Bagan. On arrival, start your exploration of the temples of Bagan, which date back to 11th to 13th centuries, including the magnificent Ananda Temple. Later this afternoon take a horsecart ride amongst the magnificent ruins of Bagan as the sun goes down.

Bagan

Continue your exploration of Bagan today starting with a visit to the charming Minnathu Village for an insight into local life. Continue with a visit to the imposing 12th century Dhammayazika Paya, stop at a neighbourhood workshop or two to see how some of the local handicrafts are made and then if time permits, you will also visit a local school (excluding school holidy periods). Afternoon boat ride on the Irrawaddy to see the exquiaite carvings at Kyauk Gu U Min. Along the way, stop at a charming riverside village and watch the sunset on the river on the return journey.

Bagan-Mandalay

Early morning flight to Mandalay. Transfer to the city of Mandalay stopping en route to visit Ava – Burma’s capital from 14th to 18th centuries - by traditional horse cart. Later, take an afternoon city tour including Mandalay Hill, Shwe Nandaw Kyuang, Kyauktawgyi Pagoda, and Kuthodaw Pagoda (home to ‘the world’s largest book’).

Morning visit to Mahaganayon monastery at Amarapura. Continue to U Bein Bridge for a walk along this 200 year-old teak bridge, then on to Sagaing to visit a local nunnery for lunch. Later learn a little about some of Mandalay’s traditional handicrafts and see how they are made.

Mandalay-Inle Lake

Morning flight to Heho. On arrival, drive to Nyaung Shwe on the bank of Inle Lake. Visit Shwe Yan Pyay Monastery before boarding a local motor boat to start your exploration of the lake. See the ingeneous floating gardens, visit Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda, the lake’s main sanctuary and visit a cheroot 'factory', where the typical Burmese cigars are made by hand. The boat trip ends at your hotel, set in a tranquil spot by the lake.

Inle Lake-Yangon

This morning, visit to the region’s lively local market, frequented by people from Burma’s many ethnic minority groups. Continue to Pa-oh village of In Dein to see its beautiful ruined ancient stupas of Alaung Sitthou. In the afternoon, transfer to Heho for your flight back to Yangon.
